More Squirrels!

I am super busy making more squirrels for All Round Clothing at the moment! Then onto a few Christmas gifts, December is so hectic for making things this year! I will try my very best to share some photos before the year is out!
For now here is my little hamster Soap McTavish helping me with a big ball of wool, observe,

He is such a tiny cute little hamster!

Keeping Busy

Phew! I've been so busy, I haven't had much time to update the blog!
Here's an amigurumi I knocked up for my friends birthday, Ultros from Final Fantasy!

It's A Bit Nippy

Brrrrrr! It's so very cold at the moment it's hard to get out of my snuggled on chair in a ball position to do any crafting! I've charted some Christmas themed Hama items which I intend on making this weekend...which is almost over, hopefully I'll find some energy to make them and photograph them and share them!
Such hard work...phew!

Halloween

I've been uber busy these last few days! Finishing off orders, getting my costume ready for the zombie night and making the Halloween magnets!
I've finished everything, for a change.
The Halloween magnets don't need to be ready until Wednesday but I decided to be organised and get them out of the way so they're definitely ready for the kids that come a knocking.

The magnets are useful for keeping crafty geeks business cards tidy

Zombie's was so much fun and everyone looked really cool! The downside was getting all the makeup off so I could go to work this morning looking presentable.

Jen and I rocking our walking dead look

Avengers themed custom order

I had an order for a matching box and pencil pot in The Avengers comic pages, I love this little set!
The pencil pot is more Spidey themed and the box more The Thing and Wolverine, but they tie in with the setting and story. It'll be in the barbers tomorrow on their desk, hope they love it as much as I do!

Business Cards Are Here!

Our new cards have arrived and they are awesome, turned out just as we hoped! They are going to be used as cards to hand out and also part of our packaging!

Size only matters when you're full grown, baby!

Duke update number 3, I feel like I've been stitching him forever and it's getting no bigger, I've half stitched some of his vest this week, observe:

Corrie keeps distracting me

Writing out another pattern soon

I made another hat for my Blythe yesterday, I was meaning to write down what I did as I went along but I made it in the car on my way to Chelmsford, I've jotted down what I think I did but it needs checking, so I'll have to make another one to double check it, Penelope is being rather spoilt with her new hat collection!
I will add pictures of my finished hats to my pattern post as I haven't taken a picture of her new one yet... surprise surprise!

Zoo Keeper Bunny Found!

I found my original zoo keeper bunny stitch, ha wasn't in the bin, phew! I have taken a picture of him before he goes missing in my craft stash again!

He was backed onto felt and had little scented beads in him I got from Etsy, the beads discoloured him a bit which is a shame, I had him in my car for a couple of days but the scent gave me a headache so he ended up at the bottom of a basket...once I took his beads out, I couldn't have my aida smelling like sweet bubblegum.

Blythe Day

Today I decided to make my Blythe, Penelope, a little hat, it's just a basic double crochet beanie, I was going to make into a little owl hat like the one in Millets but decided to keep this one as a little chic beanie, I think she looks cute in it, observe

New Business Cards On Their Way!

The new business cards have been shipped today, I'm very excited,  Mr Pea designed them and they look awesome! I must use these cards as they cost me actual money unlike the free vista print ones I have at the moment, I never really gave them out very often.
I will be proud to give the new ones out!
Peek of the back of the cards, observe

Lee must never shave again so he looks like his sprite at all times

Follow us on Twitter

We're on Twitter! Well we have been for a while but I never really go on about it enough, therefore we only have 9 followers, so stand up and be counted as a hardcore Crafty Geeks fan and give us a follow!

I Love Customs Of Things I Love

I was asked to make a zoo keeper bunny clock in different colourway to the in game bunny, I think it has come out really good, I'm very pleased with it

I was worried the light purple outline was going to look odd but it turned out really well!
The bunny is my favorite animal in the zoo keeper game, I made myself a little cross stitch of him last year, which I obviously didn't photograph, if I can find him I'll do a photo, I made him into an air freshener and the scented beads I used gave me headache, so he may be in the bin :/

Luckiest Day Shopping

Mr Pea and I went shopping today for bits for the Zombie party at the end of the month, I decided I wanted a tea dress and he wanted a suit jacket and trousers, we hit the charity shops with our list in hand and I ended up coming out of one with a knitting machine...as you do.

Vintage knitting goodness

I've been looking for this particular one for quite a while, eBay have had a few but the postage is always high and a lot of people bid on them, they are pretty rare, I couldn't believe my luck when I saw it sitting on the shelf! It's 100% complete and looks like it hasn't even been used, the lady in the charidee shop said that she had only put it out earlier in the day...very lucky indeed!
My test attempt to make sure it works...observe

It's a bit loose on the side, I just need to get my tension a bit better, can't wait to start knitting on it propely!

Oh, I also managed to get a dress for the zombie night too, the assistant had just put it on the rail and I snapped it up quick, another bit of luck! The dress is Henry Holland and is still on the Debenhams site, I got it for £1.95!!!

That's not me....but that is my dress!

Very successful charity shop day I'd say!

Remembering To Take Photos

I am very bad at taking photos of my makes before I give them away, especially if I have an order because I'm too busy making it all nice in the parcel, it's a shame really because I have made some cool things which I really wish I photographed.
I have found last years amigurumi pumpkins photo, the only photo I took was with my carved pumpkin, the kids next door got the ami's, I'll make some more this year :)

Duke Update

I went to Stratford in London today and managed to get some of Duke stitched with no distractions on the journey up there.
Not a lot done but at least he has a chest now!

Meet Mr Pea

Meet Lee my epic boyfriend or as I like to call him, Mr Pea, pea rhymes with Lee...see?
He is the other half of Crafty Geeks, Mr Pea helps me with crafty ideas and makes the GIFS and sorts out patterns and pixels for me, he is a very good boyfriend and a fellow geek which is very handy indeed!
Here he is with some Hama beads, observe:

He is designing our new business cards when he gets his bottom off the new Pro Evo demo, he has stacks of new games and plays a demo everyday, naughty Mr Pea!
EDIT: Mr Pea has responded to my comment about him having stacks of new games with this intresting post from Kotaku.

Tick Tock

I made a Hama/Perler bead clock for Lee, it was a surprise for him, I had a very hard time not telling him about it as I am the worst secret keeper in the world when it comes to pressies for him!
I decided to make it a Max clock, from Sam and Max, in response to the Max GIF he made, so now we're even on the making things from a new game race.
He loves it and hung it on his wall, it works and everything!
I have ordered another clock movement for it though as the one I got has a short spindle and doesn't fit properly, I didn't look up anything about clock making before I made it as I made a clock at school, so in my mind I am a master clock maker...I'm not, I must learn to research new things before I try them out!

Good lord, he's buck naked

Cold Turkey

I'm staying away from soap to let him have some time to himself, I played with him for a bit earlier but I may be smothering him.
I figured I'd kill a bit of time on the internets as all my crafty stuff is in the office, where soap is, I'm catching up with blog reading and things, I normally check Sprite Stitch everyday but I no longer need to as they pretty much use things Kotaku have already posted about and Kotaku has more to offer so I've spent a while on there, watching plants v's Zombies (Zombies again) dance to Gangnam Style and reading about gaming news, important stuff ;)

This game looks awesome! I love Minecraft, maybe I should have a little play of that instead on looking at videos related to it.

Soap MacTavish

Soap is taking up all my precious crafting time, but he is so cute I can't hate him for it, I tried to get some hama beads done but he kept crashing into the beads and boards in his little ball...naughty soap! When he is put away in his little home I like to just sit about watching him, I can't win!
I'm making a pressie for Lee at the moment as well as working on the duke cross stitch and other orders which pop up, so I will have a proper update with pictures of actual crafting of the geek variety, I'm working on a crochet pattern at the moment too...phew!

Hammy Hamster

I got a cute little Russian dwarf hamster today! He is named Soap MacTavish and he is adorable!! Never heard Soap MacTavish and adorable in the same sentence before.
Not crafty or geek related but I like to share :)

Zombies...brains....felt...

I am going though a zombie phase again, do not fear, I have not become a zombie, I am just a bit obsessed with them!
I'm reading The Walking Dead at the moment, I am quite emerged into it, like when I watched The OC so much I actually began to think I lived there, so reading too much about zombies is quite possibly not a good thing, at least "living" in Orange County was nice and glamorous, this isn't so much.
No, I'm not going to watch the TV series, oddly I can read horror/gore/about Justin Bieber but can't actually watch anything like that on TV or films, I can also play video games with such disturbing-ness in them that they get banned, Manhunt anyone? Although I did almost cry when I first saw a splicer on Bioshock!
I've played through the Resident Evil games a billion times, my problem here is clearly not with zombies.
I just can't watch actual people portray these things...I'm sure i'm not the only one.

To bring my zombie thoughts into a happier realm I have been looking through my Zombie Felties book, I won it in a competition forbidden planet were running, enter a picture of an amigurumi and get put in a prize draw type comp....I didn't win (the prize was 5 different books) but they liked my amigurumi so much they emailed me and sent me Zombie Felties, very kind of them indeed! They don't have it stock anymore but I've seen it about on amazon and rucraft!

Cute zombies don't munch on your brains so much :)

I plan to get some felt and make a couple of them, they will be relevant coming up to Halloween...this Halloween we are going out for a friends birthday as zombies! I think that will be a good end to my obsession and I will find something new to fill my brain with!

The Badge it has been used for good

I used my badge it and made a couple of badges for Heidi from Dede's Pumpkin Patch, she makes beautiful cot sets which are personalised!

This is the first time I've used the blogger app on my phone so this may all be in a muddle! - Stoychy

A new game to play means new crafts...umm today?

Lee and I have started to play Sam and Max together on PS3, he has had all the episodes knocking about on his hard drive for a while and asked me if I fancied it, he knows I can't resist as I am massive LucasArts fan girl.
When we play games together we tend to rip them apart looking for things we can make from them, I'm obviously going to amigurumi Max, possibly do some perlers too! But Lee has pipped me to the post, he has made a GIF of the little loading screen on the game!
Observe:

I'm pleased the animation works here, as it does not on Facebook or Flickr, feel free to use it just remember to link back here or give credit to Lee!
A better quality one can be downloaded from our DeviantART for your convenience

Here is a little snippet of the cross stitch I'm working on, this little bit has taken me 2 weeks...I keep getting side tracked :/

Captain America Decoupage

My awesome friend Jen asked me to decoupage a big mug for her husband this week, she wanted it in Captain America print, which is fine by me, cap is rather cool!
Here is the finished item, hopefully Jen doesn't check our blog too often because it will spoil the surprise before tomorrow!
Observe:

The handle was quite hard to do, I should have a little read up on decoupage techniques, there's bound to be some easy way of doing it that I'm missing out on!

How I make patterns from sprites

Some people have asked me where I get my patterns from, i make them!
It's so simple too, I use The Spriters Resource to find the sprite sheet I'm looking for and shove it into paint, zoom in 100% and stick on the grid lines, et voila! A cross stitch pattern in like 5 minutes....or 5 hours if you're like me and get carried away at looking at all the cool sprite sheets :D
Don't forget to credit the person who ripped the sprites if you post your finished work online!

Wallpaper

The type that goes on walls and not desktop backgrounds for a change!
I visited B&Q today and found some really nice wallpaper, I'm not decorating, I could stitch on it or use it for decoupage!
I've bored everyone I've had a conversation with today about this lovely wallpaper, so I figured sharing it here would be a good idea so I can shut up now
...

This is just a small part, it has a little scene from the UK and one from France too, the sample I got has this bit and a little bit of the UK, which is Big Ben and tower bridge, I think I may choose a nice bit, fill in the colour with some stitches and frame it...Merry Christmas Mum ;)

Boo Shoe

I was having a little peruse through my Flickr photos and came across the Boo and Yoshi kicks I customised for Lee in early 2011, it's sad that the older stuff gets lost behind all the new photos, I'll show them to you lovely people to make them happy again!
Observe:

Boo!

I remember these took me such a long time to cross stitch onto, the canvas on the shoes was really thick so I had to use a sharp needle....which hurt a lot, worth the effort in the end though! Lee still wears them too! Result!

I NEED this...

My lovely boyfriend is very good at keeping me up to date with all the latest geek news, I have no time myself as I'm always busy busy busy crafting *turns off Xbox*
Today he linked me to the most amazing thing I have ever seen and it's not Captain America in his underpantaloons!

It's a NES knitting machine! Nintendo never cease to amaze me, sadly it never got made, I would quite like to get my hands on the prototype though!

Looks awesome! Maybe they can make one for the Wii, I'll be first in the line if they do!

Another distraction

I don't know why I insist on creating distractions so I never get on with any crafting! I managed to drag myself off Bioshock 2...I was researching vintage posters don't you know ;) but now I have a PS3 (Thank you Lee), so that is taking up my time until the newness wears off and the 360 starts crying!
It's quite hard to keep up with my crafts if I don't play any new games, as my crafts are based on games, but can't get any done if I'm gaming...such is a hard life!

Hama beads are nice and quick to complete during loading times, kill cams and rest breaks etc...
Observe:
Poison mushroom....He is  friendly chap really.

I'll turn him into a magnet and Etsy him...just one more game on MW3 first please!

Back at work = no time to play

I figured another post is in order, according to the stats thingy people actually come visit our little blog which is nice :) Thank you!

I had some time off work and spent it mostly making Hama bead creations, it's super easy and requires no skill, the hardest bit was driving to Hobbycraft in the next town to get the beads and boards!
(That was quite hard, I took a wrong turn and spent 2 miles on the A12 plucking up the courage to overtake a lorry XD)

I also managed to decoupage 2 things, successfully too, a plant pot and a wooden chest! Observe:

I have another larger chest to tackle too!

Our Etsy store now has the bear sewing kits for sale and also some hama bead bows to dangle from the car rear view mirrors, I have one in my car, it's so cool...I'm not just saying that because I'm biased hehe!
Have a good week beautiful people!

Managed a bit of decoupage!

Today I finally got around to doing that decoupage I mentioned waaay back in Jan, remember "January is decoupage month", yeah I forgot too.
Well I suck at it, I'm going to have a another bash at it tomorrow, using a box instead of a plant pot to decorate, I'm sure this will be easier....fingers crossed!

I'm making travel sewing kits at the moment which I will be putting on folksy in the next couple of days, I bought some little sewing kits with thread and needles in etc and crocheted little kawaii bear pouches for them to go into! Observe:

Isn't he cute ^-^

Gotta Catch Them All....

I've decided to make some Pokeballs, I found a picture of all the different types and have started to make them, so far I have a Pokeball and a Premier Ball....I've not got very far!

It's so easy to make Pokeballs, and they look so awesome!
I jotted down what I did to make these 2, but i'm sure there are many many other patterns and other ways of making these babies!
Enjoy!

I used a 4mm hook and chunky sidar yarn, but you can use whatever you like!

Squirrels in Chelsea

I'm trying very hard to remember to update our blog but have been so busy!
I have been lucky enough to be asked to make the squirrel mascot for All Round Clothing and also making  some extra squirrels for them to sell.
I made the pattern for the squirrels myself as finding a decent free to use pattern is very very hard!
I plan to type up a couple of patterns I have made and put them up on here for people to use freely, sadly not the squirrel as he is exclusively for all round clothing, keep your eyes peeled!
I am so addicted to Made in Chelsea at the moment so hopefully I will find some time to type them up and make squirrels whilst i'm watching London's elite moan about their lives, ha!

Vault Boy Cross stitch

I have been rather bad at updating as I have been uber busy with a few orders which has been quite exciting!  I've almost finished the last one then onto a bit of blackwork I think!
I like to stitch in one colour, especially black, I enjoyed the QR code I did for Lee last year and vault boy, which were just black on cream aida.
Here's my vault boy stitch, back in day when I drew the patterns on graph paper from a looking at a  picture for hours XD, I actually miss doing that!

Busy with lots of superhero gifts at the moment :)
I'll have more time to update next month, only 3 stitches to complete in march....

Decoupage is on hold XD

I've been busy making gifts and playing angry birds, ha!

Epic geek cakes from our Facebook fans!

I am working on so much at the moment that I barely have time to update!
I really wanted to share the epic cakes that have been posted to the Crafty Geeks Facebook page
Here's a couple to get you in the geek baking mood:

Xbox controller cake by Jen at p.s...it's vegan Not only does the cake look awesome, it's vegan, so anyone can enjoy it!

My lovely boyfriend and fellow crafty geek made me this Kirby cake for our anniversary last year, so I had to share it ^-^

Epic Fail

Well today I was going to post a tutorial but my camera batteries had run out, boooo!
I went to hobbycraft today to get decoupage supplies and some hama beads...My first attempt at the beads was not good, it's not just ironing clothes I suck at now!
Oh, and I think I've broken my toe XD lucky I don't stitch with my toes...now that would be something eh!
On the bright side my Pacman pillow was featured on spritestitch and I've started a patch for their charity quilt, my square is a screenshot from the indie PSN minis game where is my heart?
Here is a picture for today, my Pacman pillow (or cushion)! It's a full size screenshot of a game I actually played then I made it into a pattern, it took me about 4 months to finish...savvy pacman fans will spot my mistake hehe! - Stoychy

2012: New year new Blog!

I decided this year to have a Blog to share our wares on, and to share some patterns and bits. Who doesn't love free patterns and inspiration!
January is Decoupage month so at some point this month I will post my first decoupage attempt...something to look forward to!
